More than 100 children from Antrim clubs including Gort Na Mona, Eire Og, St Agnes, St Patrick’s Lisburn and Laochra Loch Lao joined boys and girls from St Teresa’s GAC for games at Under 7 and Under 10 age groups.
With the sun shining and the pitches buzzing with energy, the young players gave their all in a series of friendly and competitive matches – showcasing great skills and a love for the game.
The tournament was not only a celebration of St Teresa’s rejuvenated juvenile squads, but also a tribute to one of the club’s founders, Phil Maguire. The event was organised by Phil’s son & Club Treasurer Danny Maguire and Phil’s granddaughter Brenda Maguire, with support of the Maguire family.
Brenda said: "My granda Phil loved this sport and he would be very happy to see so many talented boys and girls, including his great grandchildren, enjoying themselves here this morning. There were great skills on show. We know the future is bright for our own teams and all the clubs who took part. Thanks to all the visiting clubs for joining us today.
"None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our dedicated coaches Bronagh, Ciara, Jason, Gerry, Kieran, Cass & Sean who give up so much of their time, all year round, to develop our juvenile teams.
"A heartfelt thank you also goes out to the parents, referees, and volunteers who helped make the day a success. From early morning setup to the final whistle, your efforts ensured a smooth and memorable event for all involved and a fitting tribute for Phil”.
